Penny Pritzker

Penny Pritzker is founder, chairman and CEO of Classic Residence by Hyatt, which currently owns, manages and operates 18 luxury retirement communities in 10 states nationwide. Pritzker also serves as president and CEO of Pritzker Realty Group, L.P., overseeing all of the Pritzker family's non-hotel real estate investments. Pritzker Realty Group manages a diverse portfolio of assets across the United States, including land developments, industrial parks, apartments, office buildings, and off-airport parking. Pritzker Realty Group co-developed the award-winning, 1.7 million square foot Hyatt Center, Global Hyatt Corporation’s new headquarters. In addition, Pritzker Realty’s Baldwin Park Development in Orlando, Florida received the Urban Land Institute’s Award for Excellence in 2004. Pritzker is chairman of the Board of TransUnion Corporation, which is engaged in the credit data and information management business. As well, Pritzker is chairman of the Investment Committee for the family’s various foundations. In addition, she serves on the boards of Global Hyatt Corporation and The Marmon Group. Pritzker was a board member from 1994 to 2005 and chair of the Governance Committee of the William Wrigley Jr. Co., and a board member from 1994 to 2007 of LaSalle Bank Corporation. Pritzker is very involved in the reform of Chicago’s public education system. She is Vice Chairman of the Chicago Public Education Fund, chairs a Blue Ribbon Task Force for Chicago Public Schools entitled “Leading to Great Principals”, and was a founding member of the Board of Young Women’s Leadership Charter School. Pritzker is a member of the Executive Committee of the Harvard Board of Overseers and currently co-chairs the President’s Advisory Committee on the Allston Initiative. Pritzker is an honorary co-chair the Children’s Memorial Hospital campaign to build a new $750 million hospital in Chicago. Pritzker is National Finance Chair for the Obama for America campaign and Chairman of the Village Advisory Council in Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She is a member of the Real Estate Roundtable, the Urban Land Institute, and the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago. She is a life trustee and former Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. Pritzker earned her bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Stanford University. She was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1985.
