George von Liphart

George von Liphart joined New City in 2006 as president of New City North America. He brings more than 35 years of experience across all aspects of real estate in Japan, Asia and the United States. Most recently, Mr. von Liphart was Managing Director of Lehman Brothers’ Global Real Estate and Real Estate Private Equity Groups in Tokyo. He relocated to Tokyo in 1997 to launch GMAC Commercial Mortgage’s investment and lending activities in Japan and Asia, leading GMACCM-related entities in acquiring assets with a book value in excess of $10 billion. Mr. von Liphart has also been a financier, developer, advisor and consultant, serving in senior executive positions in Citibank and The Stearns Company. Mr. von Liphart is a former Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), a member of the Leadership Group of ULI’s Japan Council and a Governor of the Urban Land Foundation. He received his undergraduate (AB) and graduate degrees (MBA) from Harvard.
