Everett Dowling is president of Dowling Company, Inc., a Maui-based real estate development company, and has been active in the real estate development business for more than 25 years. Dowling Company focuses on the two extremes of the residential market by developing affordable housing projects throughout Maui and luxury vacation homes within Makena Resort.
Dowling Company's tagline is Building in Balance®, which Mr. Dowling defines as profitably building schools for Maui's children to learn in and playfields for them to play on, developing places for people to live and places for people to work, building homes for Maui's work force and luxury housing for Maui's visitors. Most importantly, the concept means balancing the needs of a growing population while still respecting Maui's unique island environment. To that end, Dowling Company has registered over a dozen projects for LEED certification and its Wailuku offices are LEED certified.
Mr. Dowling served on the Board of Trustees of Babson College. He is an Emeritus Regent of the University of Hawaii. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute's Resort Development Council, the Maui Contractors Association, the Land Use Research Foundation of Hawaii and Lambda Alpha International, an honorary land use economics society. He also serves on the Board of the Pacific Cancer Foundation, Hawaiian Telcom Business Advisory Board and the Board of the Institute of International Development.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Randolph Macon College and a Master's in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from Babson College. He is also a graduate of Harvard University's Advance Management Development Program.
