Daniel P. McCoy

In 2005, Dan McCoy founded Beacon Student Housing in Denver, Colorado, a residential redevelopment corporation that focuses on infill sites near college campuses. He serves as the company’s President and oversees all aspects of the development of high quality student living environments. From 2001-2005, he served as the Senior Vice President of Trammell Crow Company and as a founding member of the healthcare industry group, a start-up entity that grew into one with over $50 million in revenues, 24 million square feet under management, and over 400 employees.

During the 1990s, Dan served in a variety of business and political roles. He was U.S. Representative Toby Roth’s Legislative Assistant and Campaign Manager from 1991-1993 and a Policy Analyst for the Wisconsin State Legislature from 1993-1994. He then served in a variety of capacities including the Director of Business Development for American Medical Security from 1994-1998, and went on to start an employee benefits marketing firm, Butler & Company, in 1998.

Dan serves on the Advisory Board of the Real Estate Academic Initiative, raises a family, and maintains Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin football season tickets. He completed his MBA at the Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree in international relations at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
